The Double Mackinaw Coat

I almost bought a Filson. I traveled by train from Long Island to New York City to their store just so I could try it on. I was not impressed. And especially not for the price. I have never owned any Stormy merchandise before. But I have heard nothing but rave reviews. I took the chance and ordered it online. The double Maco coat? Is the nicest coat I have ever owned. This coat is absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough about it. The material, the quality, the workmanship? Is all second to none. As far as I’m concerned, any other wool coat of this type? By Any other manufacturer? Is a rag. Stormy Kromer just made a new loyal customer.

The quality of this jacket is unmatched. I was going to buy a Filson first but after I went from Long Island to New York City just so I was able to try one on? I was very disappointed in the Philson. I have heard nothing but amazing reviews about the stormy double Mackinaw. So I took the chance and ordered it. This jacket is epic. Finest coat I’ve ever owned. Compared to this jacket? The Filson Mackinaw is a rag. Beautiful fit, amazing quality.

Wonderful garment! full yoke with double sleeves. I particularly like the the snap pockets under the chest yoke. The buttons are large and sturdy. It's been from 20F to 40F here in Connecticut and the coat is comfortable thru the entire range. I am 6"2" and I ordered a 2XL so I have room for layering. Highly recommend. The wool is soft yet strong, made in the USA.

This double separates itself from the “ other guys” with the double sleeves. I have been out at -9 with a liner John suit under and stayed warm walking to the mailbox. Hand pockets are straight in, keep your hands warm but gloves etc can slide out, but you have two big flap pockets for that stuff. Overall a great purchase for cold days.

I'm convinced it is wise to purchase quality clothing, such as one superior coat, rather than having several coats of inferior construction and materials. The old axiom of "you get what you pay for" holds, and American-made is important to me. The Stormy Kromer Double Mackinaw Coat is a coat of superior materials and construction. I've lived in Western New York all my life-69 years. I live between two of our Great Lakes: Erie and Ontario. Our winters can be harsh with Lake effect snow; lots of snow, high winds, and the snow coming down sideways. See the Buffalo Blizzard of 1977. I rate my American-made Stormy Kromer Mackinaw red & black plaid coat right up there with my American-made 40-year-old Woolrich red &black Hunting coat. My American-made Schott Wool Pea Coat is 32 oz wool. However, my gray Kromer double Mackinaw Coat puts 52 oz of 100% virgin wool-52 ounces of substantial warm and windproof warmth, and heirloom quality. I've been looking at the regular Stormy Mackinaw for well over a year. Seeing that they just released the Double in time for the Labor Day sale, add to cart overtook me. As mentioned by the first reviewer, this thing is an heirloom coat. The American Woolen Co. wool is thick and every bit the quality of Filson, if not better. Plus, Stormy actually prices their products fairly. Their sizing is generous, so I ordered one size down and it fits perfect (42in chest and ordered M). With the added sleeve and shoulder/chest layer, they knocked it out of the park. Just order it!
